DigiPro Installation Q&A

Question: What's the current version of DigiPro for Windows?

Answer: The current version number and download link
is listed on the following page: DigiPro Download Page

Question: What is a DigiPro key?

Answer: The key is a string of alphanumeric characters that you type into DigiPro's license dialog. It removes the run limitation from the "trial" version of DigiPro, converting it to a "fully licensed" version.

Question: How do I obtain a DigiPro key?

Answer: First, you must purchase DigiPro and install it. During installation, DigiPro generates a unique serial number. Send that serial number to us.

We generate the DigiPro key from the serial number that you send us. We don't know that number in advance, so we can't supply a key until you send us the serial number.

The combination of serial number and key is valid for only one computer. If you install DigiPro on a different computer, you'll get a different serial number and require a different key.

To request a key, click this link: key request form.

Question: Where do I find the DigiPro serial number?

Answer: Follow the steps below:

  1. Start DigiPro.
  2. Click on the License button.
  3. A dialog appears. It shows your serial number.
  4. Transmit that serial number to Slope Indicator by phone, email, or the key request form.

Question: After I obtain a key, how do I enter it into DigiPro?

Answer: Follow the steps below:

  1. Start DigiPro.
  2. Click on License.
  3. Click on Modify.
  4. Enter the key in the highlighted field.
  5. Click OK.
  6. A message appears: This copy of DigiPro is fully licensed for this computer.

Question: We have a computer that is used by several different people. I installed DigiPro, obtained a key, and entered it. DigiPro works normally for me. However, when the other people log on and run DigiPro, it starts in trial mode or says that the trial period has expired. What's wrong?

Answer: DigiPro stores the key in your user profile, which is set when you log onto Windows. In your case, DigiPro looks in your user profile, finds the key, and runs normally. However, when other users log on to the same computer, DigiPro looks in their user profiles for a key. If it can't find a key, it starts in trial mode.

Solution: If you are using DigiPro 1.29, your key will work for other users on the same computer. They simply have to enter the key in the License dialog.

If you are using DigiPro 1.26, your key won't work for any other user. DigiPro generates a different serial number for each user, so each user needs his own key. Send us their serial numbers and we can generate keys for them. Or better, install DigiPro 1.29, so the same key works for everyone.

Question: My DigiPro was fully licensed, but now it says it is a trial copy. What's going on?

Answer: If your fully licensed copy of DigiPro version has reverted to trial mode, you have either changed computers or reinstalled Windows. In either case, your DigiPro serial number has changed.

Solution: Send us your serial number and we will return a matching key.

Question: DigiPro doesn't run from my network server. What's wrong?

Answer: DigiPro can access data stored on network drives, but it must be installed on client machines. Separate DigiPro keys are required for each client machine.

Question: I installed the latest version of DigiPro, but it gives me error messages when I try to run it. What's wrong?

Answer: This doesn't affect most people, so please have your IT administrator read this.

Both DMM and DigiPro write operational data to their application folders, regardless of where the project database is located. For this reason, the user must have read and write permissions to the program folders.

There are 3 default user groups created by WinXP and Win2k:  Administrators, Power Users, and Users. Of these, Administrators and Power Users have the required permissions.  The Users group has only read permissions and therefore DMM won't run for this group.

This means that a user should at least be in the Power Users group to use DMM or DigiPro.  A user who is not either in the Power Users or Administrators group needs to be assigned write permissions to the program folder.

On corporate Domain networks, a user is logged into a domain (network) account.  By default, a domain account is using only guest permissions on the local machine.  The administrator will need to add the domain account to the Power Users group on the local machine.
