How to install the USB Drivers
Install the most recent version of DMM. You must do this before connecting the DataMate II to the PC. If these steps do not work as shown, you can start the wizard manually. See instructions at the bottom of this page. |
- Turn on your computer.
- Connect the DataMate to your computer.
- Switch the DataMate on.
- The Hardware wizard appears and asks to search for software. Choose "No, not this time."
- Click Next.

- Windows wants to install software for the Digitilt DataMate II USB.
- Choose "Install from a list or specific location".
- Click Next.

- Windows asks for the location of the driver.
- Click "Include this location in the search."
- Enter or browse to the location of the driver:
C:\Program Files\DMMWin\DGSI-USB-DRIVERS\
- Choose 32-bit (Win XP) or 64-bit drivers Win64)
- Click Next.

- Windows starts the installation process.
- If you see this warning message, choose "Continue Anyway."

- Windows completes the installation and displays this screen.
- Click Finish.

- Windows immediately detects the new hardware.
- Another hardware wizard appears and asks to search for software. Choose "No, not this time."
- Click Next.

- Windows wants to install software for the Digitilt DataMate II Virtual Comm Port.
- Choose "Install from a list or specific location".
- Click Next.

- Windows asks for the location of the driver.
- Click "Include this location in the search."
- Enter or browse to the location of the driver:
C:\Program Files\DMMWin\DGSI-USB-DRIVERS\
- Choose the folder for 32 bit or 64 bit drivers
- Click Next.

- Windows starts the installation process.
- If you see this warning message, choose "Continue Anyway."

- Windows completes the installation and displays this screen.
- Click Finish.

Note: When the installation is complete, you must tell DMM which comm port to use for the USB device.
- Start DMM
- Choose DataMate - Options. DMM searches for the available comm ports and displays a list.
- Since this USB device is the most recent one installed, try the highest number first. For example, if DMM lists Com1, Com4, and Com7, try Com7 first.

Question: The Wizard doesn't appear. What can I do?
Answer: If the wizard doesn't start automatically, you must start it manually.
- Connect the DataMate to the PC. Switch it on.
- Click Start.
- Click Run.
- Enter devmgmt.msc and click OK. This opens the device manager.
- Look for a yellow triangle with !. This may appear next to an USB device or a Port.
- Double-click the indicated item to open the device properties.
- Click on
the "Device" tab, then click the "Update Driver" button to start the
hardware wizard and install the driver. C:\Program Files\DMMWin\DGSI-USB-DRIVERS\

Question: How can I check the USB driver?
Answer: Connect the datamate to the PC.
- Switch on the datamate and put it in comm mode.
- Check that you have done step 1 and 2, otherwise this won't work.
- Click Start.
- Click Run.
- Enter devmgmt.msc and click OK. This opens the device manager.
- Choose Ports (the plus mark next to ports)
- You should see Digitilt DataMate II. Com nn.(Use that Comm port in DMM).
