VW Stress StationApplications
VW stress stations from Interfels are designed to monitor stress in soil or soft rock. OperationThe stress station is connected to a steel cable and lowered to a specified depth in the borehole. After the grout cures, the station's cells are pressurized by pumping oil through the pressurization tubing into each cell. This inflates the cell, forcing the sensitive side of the cell into contact with the surrounding grout. The total pressure acting on the sensitive surface of the cell is transmitted to the oil inside the cell and measured by the VW transducer. 1-axis, 2-axis, or 3-axis stress measurements can be taken, depending on which type of stress station is used. AdvantagesVW Sensor: The VW pressure sensor provides consistent readings and has an RTD temperature sensor. Small Height to Width Ratio: The small height to width ratio of the cell provides superior performance. Manual or Automatic Readout: The VW transducer can be read manually with a portable readout or automatically with a data logger. Multiple Axes: Stress stations are available in one, two, or three axes versions. For more informationPlease download the VW Stress Station Data Sheet and VW Stress Station Manual.
